Stocks and Securities
Appreciated securities are an excellent asset to use in making a charitable gift. You may maximize tax savings by receiving an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the appreciated securities and you may avoid capital gains tax.
Gifts of securities to the Athenaeum/Seminary may be handled in several ways. You may make your gift by mail, by hand delivery, or by electronic transfer.
Electronic transfer is the most efficient way to transfer securities to the Athenaeum/Seminary. If your stock is held at a broker, notify the broker that you wish to make a gift of securities to The Athenaeum of Ohio/ Mount St. Mary's Seminary. Your broker will need written authorization from you before they can make the transfer. Be sure to tell them the name of the stock you want to transfer, the number of shares, and where you would like your gift to be designated. Also, remind your broker to make sure that your name appears on the transfer as shares are sometimes transferred into our account without notification of donor's name. We also ask that you contact Dianne Carlson, Athenaeum Advancement Services, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (513) 231-2223. Notifying Dianne provides us the ability to match up your name (donor) with the correct stock gift.
Securities should be transferred directly to The Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary's Seminary through:
Company Name: Fifth Third Bank
DTC Number: 2116
Account Number: 0104471751AB
Account Name: Athenaeum of Ohio - Mount St. Mary Seminary
Please note that it is imperative to include the donor name in the delivery instructions.
Any further questions can be directed to Dianne Carlson at (513) 231-2223 or email@example.com. Thank you!
