The Eucharist is the central act of worship by the Church and the most privileged prayer of common life at the Athenaeum. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, the seminary community gathers for the Liturgy of the Hours at 6:30 a.m., followed immediately by Mass.
On those same days, the community gathers for Eucharistic Exposition at 5:00 p.m. with Evening Prayer beginning at approximately 5:45p.m. On Wednesdays, the community gathers for Morning Prayer at 7:00 a.m. and Mass is offered at 5:15 p.m.
On Saturdays at 11:20 a.m. the seminary community gathers for the Eucharist. On Sunday, Mass is offered for the seminary community at 8:30 a.m. The schedule is adjusted on Solemnities and Feast days. On those days, Mass is offered at 5:15 p.m. Students are advised to consult the Athenaeum Weekly Newsletter for the schedule of liturgical celebrations.
Deacon candidates attend the deacon program for three years with 15 weekends a year at the seminary. During that time their liturgical schedule is as follows:
8.20am Morning Prayer
7.00pm Evening Prayer
7.45am Morning Prayer
